While you’ll be experiencing South America in style there will be times when the group needs to embark on a walk/hike to visit and photograph the best locations. As part of the pre-tour planning, we ask you to share any existing health conditions with us so we may plan for your comfort and safety.

The Journey

DAY 1

Bogotá

Pick up at the airport and transfer to your hotel. (40min – 14.8km)
Arrival at your hotel and installation.

DAY 2

Bogotá

Discover the center of Bogota in an original and atypical way. The walking tour of the capital will take you through the most authentic places in the city.
In the morning: Walking city tour in the center. You will discover the colonial district of la Candelaria, Bogota historical center and its squares and markets. It is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and to understand their way of life.
In the afternoon: you will visit the famous Gold Museum and Botero Museum where you will be able to admire the masterpieces of the renowned Colombian painter and sculptor

DAY 3

Zipaquira + Raquira

Departure from your hotel to the town of Villa de Leyva with a stop at Zipaquira Salt Cathedral and at the village of Raquira.
Arrival at the town of Zipaquira, a town that was declared a national Colombian heritage site and is well-known for its Salt Cathedral that was built inside of a salt mine. After the Cathedral you will visit the village, its churches and central square.
Afterwards, arrival at the village of Raquira where you will have free time to buy souvenirs.
Possible ceramic workshop in Raquira (subject to availability).

DAY 4

Villa de Leyva

Breakfast at your hacienda and start of your excursion.
Visit the main sites of interest in the surroundings area of Villa de Leyva by private transport including the Monastery of Santo Ecce Homo and the Terracotta house made of clay. Photo session at Villa de Leyva.
Afternoon at leisure. Post processing sessions, relax or try the local shovelboard game or “tejo” with the local people.

DAY 5

Barichara

Departure for Barichara, a traditional town located in the Andes, also called the red town due to the color of its bricks.
Get settled in your hotel and then take an artistic and cultural walking tour. We will visit and photograph the church of Santa Barbara, a great panoramic lookout point of the Suarez Canyon, the central square, Parque de las Esculturas. Then, our guide will take you to the workshops of local craftsmen and artists (painting, sculpture, paper, tobacco etc).

DAY 6

Barichara + Guane

Morning departure by 4WD (40 minutes) to Butaregua. On the road you will discover and photograph tobacco and fruit plantations.
We will join the local community where we will have lunch and will have the opportunity to photograph the locals and swim in a natural springs pool. We will also have the opportunity to discover local games such as “bolos”.
We will travel to Guane and discover this charming village where life seems rocked by an ancient rhythm. Great photography opportunities of its whitewashed mud houses, stone streets and small archaeological museum take us back in time.

DAY 7

Tayrona Aera

Leave Barichara in the morning by private transport, heading to Panachi – Chicamocha National Park. On the road, admire the impressive Chicamocha Canyon that crosses the department of Boyacá and Santander. This 227-kilometer long natural marvel will without no doubt leave you breathless. In order to optimize your experience of the Chicamocha Natural Park, we will take the “teleférico” (cable car) until Mesa de los Santos.
Upon arrival at the airport you will take a private transport to get to your hotel in the Tayrona Park area. Installation at the hotel and photo session at sunset

DAY 8

Indigenous Village

Live a unique experience by visiting and photographing one of the most mysterious Indigenous communities in the world: the Arhuaco Indigenous people, direct descendants of the Tayrona.
Early morning departure to an area between Don Diego and Palomino where our guide will be waiting for us. In his company, we walk along the river to reach the Arhuaco indigenous community
If we are lucky, we will see howler monkeys. In the Arhuaco village, we will visit the school and the local traditions such as the weaving of the famous mochila and can meet the Mamo (spiritual Leader of the village)

DAY 9

Tayrona Park

In the morning we will depart from Barlovento and visit the park with an expert nature guide. We will photograph the forest, its wildlife and landscape. Average walking level, but hot and humid. Mules are optional.
Picnic at the beach “La Piscina“ and photo session.
In the afternoon we will visit Cabo San Juan and we will have a bit of time to relax and swimming.
Then, photo session in the forest and monkey research and return to the beach and photo session at sunset.

DAY 10

Tayrona + Minca

We will have breakfast after sunrise before heading to Cabo San Juan del Guia, a wonderful bay of white sand surrounded by huge volcanic rocks. On the way, we will photograph the local fauna and flora of this magnificent park with your guide. You will be able to take many beautiful pictures.
Afterwards you will get back to the Park Entrance to take your private transport to the village of Minca located higher in the Sierra Nevada.
In the afternoon at around 3:30pm we will have a portrait photography session with an Indigenous family. At 5:30pm we’ll have snacks and photo session at sunset

DAY 11

Minca + Cerro Kennedy

We will get up very early (~3:30am). Drive from your lodge to the starting point of your activity. reaching the altitude of 3000m.
From there, you will experience and photograph the beautiful views of the Sierra Nevada, which will provide a great panorama of the mountains.
We will then start a walk crossing streams, giving you the opportunity to observe many endemic birds living in the region.
Arrival in a typical Finca for lunch. Later in the afternoon, photography in the rainforest and a magnificient sunset over the sea.

DAY 12

Cerro Kennedy + Santa Marta

Departure from Santa Elena Farm around 7:00am to go visit an organic coffee production farm with centenary facilities. After discovering the production process of the precious liquid, you will discover the wonderful waterfall of Marinka.
Return to Minca for lunch before leaving to Santa Marta where you will spend the night.
You can stop at Taganga to watch the sunset if time allows.

DAY 13

Nueva Venecia + Cartagena

Do you want to discover unknown places in Colombia? We are proud to share with you this place located in Cienaga Grande, a small village of fisherman living on the water at Nueva Venecia, which is still preserved from tourism and keeps all its authenticity. The fishermen community live from Cienaga Grande in picturesque pilots villages.
Departure from Santa Marta at 6am, you will take a private boat to reach the small village of Buena. We will visit the school
Lunch at the Lagoon side, Then we will leave to the city of Cartagena. Arrival in the late afternoon. Discovery walk in the city centre

DAY 14

Cartagena

Follow the footsteps of famous pirates and discover the “Pearl of the Caribbean”, a city rich in culture, diversity, exotic and heritage.
Photo Tour (6:00-8:00am)
Get up early to witness the beautiful historical centre of Cartagena. Transfer from your hotel to the airport.

Finca Santa Elena
Santa Elena's farm is a very simple but warm country house. Equipped with a kitchen and dining room, you can taste Anna's cuisine, 100% organic and produced on site. The farm has three multiple bedrooms with a maximum capacity of 14 guests, two shared bathrooms, solar energy and a view that you will never forget Located at the foot of Cerro Kennedy, the farm offers a magical view of the sea at sunset, as well as another breathtaking view of the snow-covered peaks of Pico Colon and Bolivar.

Camping Cabo San Juan

A simple but comfortable campsite, it is one of the only accommodations in Tayrona National Park, and undoubtedly the best located. It offers all the facilities to live an excellent experience in the middle of nature far from the crowded city. It offers a shared bathroom. Facilities: catering service, mini-boutique, snorkeling centre. For those who do not walk, it is accessible by horse. 50 meters from the most beautiful beach of Tayrona Park. It is an excellent starting point for taking magical photos at sunrises and sunsets.
Maloka Barlovento
Maloka Barlovento is located just 100m away from the beach and only 10min by car from Tayrona Park. This is a truly peaceful haven where you will be able to relax while listening to the wide range of birds living there. The hotel offers a splendid view of both the sea and the jungle. It is important for you to know it might be impossible to swim if the sea is rough.

Hotel Hicasua

Located 8 minutes from Barichara’s Cathedral, Hicasua Hotel Boutique will make your stay a pleasant one in the most beautiful village of Colombia.
